Here I am adding the rows to the bottom. I figured out that I should have pinned the "twosies" as they are easier to sew. The diamond that is touching the bottom of the panel will be trimmed at 1/4" and sewn in a straight line to the panel.

This is what it looks like if the "twosies" are sewn together; Y-seam!

Here the "twosies" are sewn with the strip of half hexies, all straight seams.

I have sewn the top and bottom rows together and now I can attach the

side rows just like any other one block wonder. At some points I will add a triangle that doesn't match the rest of the hexie but will make the transition from the panel into the hexies more smooth.
Now I have all the hexes sewn onto the panel. I really wanted more blue so I decided to try some circles to highlight the swirl. I used more subtle circles to connect the golds. In this picture you can see that I was auditioning green circles but I decided that they weren't working.

Working on the pebbles, just trying to get a nice flow with these.

Reds to highlight the tree roots.

It's hard to see and that's good but here I added some light blue and circles cut from leftover triangles to soften the swirl coming out of the tree. Done with circles, Now to decide on a border.
