My Fancy Pants Scrap Quilt (La Passacaglia)

Practice layouts for Rosettes before I knew anything.

The fabric pull for La Passacaglia

Family crafting on the trip home from the celebration of 60 years of marriage for Ross and Nancy Fitzpatrick

Finger pin cushions that I made.

First large rosette (that I kept, one is sitting in a box waiting for "someday")

My organization. each envelope has a picture of the rosette and all the pieces needed.

Using my One Block Wonder technique of stacking repeats to speed up fussy cutting. Brilliant but why did it take me so long?

I had to rip out the 2nd round of diamonds on this rosette, they just didn't work. I am much happier with the darker green leaves

I decided that this was the fabric that I HAD to use for pentagons all around the whole top. I have been using this fabric on odds and ends for years and now I really needed more and couldn't find it anywhere. I do know that i must have purchased it 10 years ago. It's ok though, I made more. Thanks goodness it was a stripe!

Sewing the rosettes together, not as difficult as I imagined.

Hooray, found the border fabric. They didn't have enough at the local quilt store but I was able to get more online.

more of my manufactured fabric

almost done, counting how many pents are still needed. I was able to rip out the lining of a purse that I'd used the stripe in so didn't need to make any more fabric.

I wrapped the edges around paper so that I'd have a nice crisp edge to applique to the border.

I sewed the border fabric to a piece roughly the size of the top, pinned and appliqued with a narrow zigzag stitch and invisafil thread.

Looking good but I really needed to add something to the border.

Ready to quilt, just waiting for time and cooler weather, my sewing room is the hottest room in the house!
